Getting there

From the UK, it's around 10 to 11 hours flying time to Maldives. We can arrange flights with a number of airlines including Emirates, Qatar Airways, Sri Lankan Airlines, British Airways, Etihad, Virgin Atlantic, Gulf Air, Air France and Turkish Airlines.

British Airways and Virgin are currently the only airlines offering direct flights to the Maldives capital, Male, from the UK, and only from London Heathrow. Other airlines involve a stop and change of plane. Some prefer to get to Maldives as quickly as possible, others may like a short stop with the chance to stretch their legs and do a bit of shopping. There is also the opportunity to spend longer in these destinations and enjoy a two-centre holiday, perhaps combining Maldives with Sri Lanka or Dubai, which we can also organise for you. Contact us for more information about two-centre holidays.

Transfers

Transfer to your island resort is via speedboat, seaplane or domestic flight plus a short boat journey. A seaplane flight, on small de Havilland Sea Otter aircraft, is a wonderful experience, offering stunning views of the atolls and turquoise lagoons. You can also see into the cockpit, where the pilots usually fly barefoot! However, seaplanes only fly during daylight hours so bear this in mind when choosing your international flights. If your flight arrives in Male in the late afternoon, you may have to spend your first night at the airport hotel or book a hotel in Male. The seaplane schedule is changed daily to accommodate each day's passengers. Domestic flights, however, run to a set schedule and also operate at night. We will be happy to advise you on the best option to suit you.

Not from the UK? We can still arrange your accommodation in Maldives, and international customers also benefit from the 100% financial protection provided by our membership of the TTA.
